Matthew 22 ↔ Deuteronomy 6:5

In Matthew 22, the Lord Jesus identifies Deuteronomy 6:5 as the great and first commandment, declaring that loving God with the whole heart, soul, and mind undergirds all the Law and the Prophets (Matt 22:37–40). The chapter's opening parable illustrates the tragedy of ignoring this command: those invited to the King's feast proved unworthy because their affections were divided between their own worldly pursuits and His call. Genuine love for God demands supreme allegiance, withholding nothing of the heart, mind, or life from His honor.
