Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 30 June 2026

1. Who we are

The Berean Bible study app (“Berean”, “the Service”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Stetson Troy Pollard, an individual sole operator (“the Seller”). The Service is provided at bereanapp.org. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. The Service

Berean is a software product that provides Bible reading (using the NET Bible®), an AI study companion, reading plans, an apologetics evidence library, typology and church-history study cards, notes, highlights, and related study tools. Some features are free; others require a paid subscription as described on the Pricing page.

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization. If you are an individual, you confirm you are of legal age in your country.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you must not:

  • use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purpose;
  • send spam, harass other users, or impersonate any person;
  • infringe the intellectual-property rights of the Seller or any third party;
  • probe, scan, or interfere with the security or integrity of the Service;
  • introduce malware or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system or data;
  • scrape, mass-download, or redistribute Service content other than as expressly allowed;
  • attempt to circumvent usage limits, tier restrictions, or AI safety controls, including jailbreaks, prompt-injection attacks, or use of the Service to generate content that is illegal, sexually exploitative, defamatory, deceptive, or designed to harm others.

5. AI features — important notice

The AI study companion produces text in response to your prompts. You are responsible for the prompts you submit, for how you use the responses, and for verifying that any output is accurate, biblically faithful, and appropriate before relying on it. Outputs may contain mistakes, omissions, or fabricated citations and must not be treated as professional theological, legal, medical, financial, or other regulated advice. We may filter, refuse, or remove prompts and outputs that violate these Terms or applicable law, and we may suspend accounts that repeatedly misuse AI features.

You retain ownership of your prompts and any responses you have a right to use, subject to third-party rights in the underlying Bible text and study materials, and to any restrictions imposed by the AI providers used to power the Service. You grant us a limited license to process your prompts and outputs solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, its software, design, branding, study materials, and original content are owned by the Seller or its licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for personal study within the plan you have purchased. You may not reverse-engineer, resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service. The NET Bible® text is © 1996–2017 Biblical Studies Press, L.L.C., used under its published terms.

7. Subscriptions, payment & billing

Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly, in advance, at the prices shown on the Pricing page when you subscribe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account; you will keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, invoicing, currency conversion, and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle’s Checkout Buyer Terms. See our Refund Policy for how to request a refund.

8. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you materially breach these Terms, fail to pay amounts due, create a security or fraud risk, or repeatedly violate the acceptable-use rules. Where reasonable, we will give you notice and a chance to fix the issue first. You can stop using the Service and close your account at any time. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (IP, disclaimers, liability, governing law) will continue to apply.

9. Service availability & warranties

We work to keep the Service available and reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the twelve (12) months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, incidental, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or loss of opportunity. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your content, your use of the Service in breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

12. Changes to the Service or these Terms

We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change to these Terms we will give reasonable notice (for example, by email or in-app notice) before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the change means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Seller resides, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence still apply.

14. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@bereanapp.org.
