Biblical city
Thyatira
Akhisar, Türkiye · Roman Asia Minor
Thyatira was a working town known for its trade guilds, especially dyers of purple cloth; Lydia of Thyatira sold such goods in Philippi (Acts 16:14). Revelation 2:18-29 rebukes the church there for tolerating false teaching. Limited ruins survive within modern Akhisar.

An artistic reconstruction of ancient Thyatira, showing a busy marketplace, colonnaded civic buildings, workshops, and the surrounding Lycus valley.
