Jonah → Three Days and Three Nights
The reluctant prophet and the sign
The shadow (Old Testament)
Jonah fled the call of God, was thrown into the sea, and was swallowed by a great fish. For three days and three nights he was in its belly, and then, alive again, he preached repentance to a hostile Gentile city — and Nineveh actually turned to God (Jonah 1–3). A reluctant prophet, a resurrection-shaped sign, an unexpected harvest.

The substance (Christ)
Jesus named Jonah as His own sign: "Just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth" (Matthew 12:40). And just like Jonah, Christ went on to preach repentance to a wider Gentile world — and they came.

The resurrection isn't a private Christian claim tucked away for insiders. Jesus offered it to the world as the sign.
