The Prophet Like Moses

A new mediator with a new word

The shadow (Old Testament)

Moses promised Israel, "The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers — it is to him you shall listen" (Deuteronomy 18:15-19). He wasn't just talking about the next prophet in the line. He was pointing to a coming Mediator who would speak God's words with final authority — the kind Israel could not survive standing before at Sinai.

The substance (Christ)

On the Mount of Transfiguration, the Father Himself said of Jesus, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him" (Matthew 17:5) — a deliberate echo of Deuteronomy 18. Peter later quoted the very prophecy and applied it directly to Jesus (Acts 3:22-23). The Prophet has come.

Apostolic commentary

Hebrews 1:1-2 — "God, who at sundry times… spoke by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son."

Take it in

God's final Word to humanity isn't a doctrine or a book — it's a Person. Listen to Him.
