The Veil of the Temple
The way into the Holy Place opened
The shadow (Old Testament)
A thick embroidered curtain shut off the Most Holy Place from everyone in Israel. Only the high priest could pass through it, and only once a year. The veil was preaching a sermon week after week: God is holy, and you cannot come in (Exodus 26:31-33; Hebrews 9:7-8).

The substance (Christ)
At the very moment Jesus died, "the veil of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom" (Matthew 27:51) — torn by God, not by human hands. Hebrews explains what that meant: we now enter the holy places "by the new and living way that He opened for us through the curtain, that is, through His flesh" (Hebrews 10:19-20). The barrier didn't just come down; it became the door.
